Public Affiliate
status is given to non-WSU Extension personnel, with a 50% or more
appointment, to become more "formally" affiliated with
WSU. Affiliate status is most often requested when a county employee
needs to: have access to budgets, handle money, and/or obtain a
WSU Network ID.
Affiliate status
allows county employees to have access to the university system,
including being listed in the WSU campus directory and being eligible
for the "wsu.edu" email return address. County employees
are encouraged to become public affiliates to have consistent email
addresses for marketing purposes while sending out Extension information.
The Public
Affiliate forms are signed by John Winder, Associate Dean & Associate Director,
WSU Extension, and forwarded to Human Resource Services for processing.
This process can take a couple weeks.
Network ID
Request forms are forwarded to Jim
Buscher in the Computer Resource Unit (509-335-2813) AFTER
names are added in the WSU system by Human Resource Services. Jim
Buscher sets up the email usernames, passwords, and email forwarding.
Approval will be sent to the Extension County Directors by email.
It is important
to understand that the only way we know about non-WSU employees
is when you tell us, so please continue to keep us up-to-date on
new employees and also when someone leaves, so that we can remove
them from our systems. Annually, Extension County Directors will
receive a list of public affiliates currently in our system to verify
accuracy. Public Affiliate appointments are 3-year, renewable
appointments.
If you have
questions, or want to check status on your request, please contact
Extension Administration,
509-335-2822.
