Research Associate Appointments

Postdoctoral Research Associate Appts.

Appointments to Associate in Research, Research Associate, and Postdoctoral Research Associate positions may be made for up to two years.   These positions are subject to the current hiring freeze. Request an exemption from the hiring freeze by entering the request in the Position and Travel Exemption Request System.

  

Position Requirements:

• Research Assistant (0347) requires a Bachelor's Degree
• Associate in Research (0321) requires a Master’s Degree
              (Exception to this requirement must be approved in advance by the Dean)
• Research Associate (0305) requires a Ph.D. and completion of the attached checklist.
• Postdoctoral Research Associate (0306) requires a Ph.D. and completion of the attached checklist.

 

Formal searches are not required for these positions:

If you plan to recruit by any means other than informal e-mails to colleagues, then the following procedures apply:

1. Send the advertisement copy to the College Affirmative Action Officer to review the wording. 
2. Do not complete an Authorization to Recruit form. 
3. Do not have applicants complete Equal Employment Opportunity cards. 
4. Departmental personnel can assist with placing ads in the local newspapers.
5. The Center for Human Rights recommends when a position is advertised, that the department keep a list of applicants, the selection criteria, and the strengths and weaknesses of applicants interviewed.

 

Provide the following to BFO (after receiving approval to make appointment):

• Two original letters of offer with the Department Chair signature. BFO will return the letters to the department for the employee to sign.
  • A letter offer is a contract, do not commit to more funds than you have available.
• Vitae
• Three letters of reference.
• Biographical Data Sheet.
  • BFO will return with the letters of offer, if not already completed.
• Completed checklist for Research Associate and Postdoctoral Research Associate.
• Enter into PERMS
